HUDSON RIVER RUN

Hop on, slow down & experience the Hudson River like never before.

Discover the untamed beauty of the Adirondacks on our newest rail bike tour, Hudson River Run. Departing from the newly reopened Riparius (Riverside) Station—an architectural gem and National Historic Landmark—this 7-mile out-and-back ride follows the stunning Hudson River Ice Meadows, one of the most unique and ecologically rich stretches of this mighty river.

You’ll pedal through rare botanical landscapes shaped by frazil ice—yes, that’s a real term—and our Guides will share what makes it so fascinating.

At the halfway point, we get off the rail bikes at Washburn Eddy, a historic bend in the Hudson at the outlet of the Anderson (Avery) Creek, an old-fashioned swimming hole loved by locals and visitors alike for generations. Dip your toes in the refreshing water, enjoy a snack, and learn about this fascinating area from our Guides before heading back upriver.

As part of the endless railroad folklore in this area, you will hear stories about Riverside Station, built in 1913 in the distinctive Prairie School architecture style—a destination in its own right.

This rail biking tour is made possible through our partnership with the Nature Conservancy of New York, which is responsible for protecting this extraordinary natural corridor.
