Shaking Off A Long Winter's Sleep, Happy Mothers Day!

May 12, 2019

"Somewhere a black bear has just risen from sleep and is staring down the mountain."

Mary Oliver, Spring (full poem reprinted below)

After one of the more stubborn winters of the last 10 years or more, spring is finally "springing" here in the Adirondacks.

If you love what winter has to offer you here in our neck of the woods, this was an amazing winter - I was able to snowboard more this year than in the last 5 years combined.

And yet, at a certain point, we find ourselves ready to feel the sunshine, see the green and hear the Hudson calling to us once again.

We kicked off our our 2019 season this past weekend, celebrating the change of seasons and all the Moms and their families who came out to ride with us.

We even had one intrepid group of ladies celebrating a bride-to-be with an adventurous bachelorette party!

We'd love to have you come take a ride with us this year - check us out at www.revrail.com and stop on by if you're ever in the area.

Be well,

Spring, by Mary Oliver

    a black bear
      has just risen from sleep
         and is staring

down the mountain.
    All night
in the brisk and shallow restlessness
         of early spring

I think of her,
    her four black fists
      flicking the gravel,
         her tongue

like a red fire
    touching the grass,
      the cold water.
         There is only one question:

how to love this world.
    I think of her
like a black and leafy ledge

to sharpen her claws against
    the silence
      of the trees.
         Whatever else

my life is
    with its poems
      and its music
         and its glass cities,

it is also this dazzling darkness
      down the mountain,
         breathing and tasting;

all day I think of her—
    her white teeth,
      her wordlessness,
         her perfect love.
